Butterfly Minute is out now!

Biography

Jemily Rime was born in 1998 in Paris, amongst a family of musicians. As a child, she already frequented recording studios and concert venues. She started playing the piano at just three years old, which eventually led her to singing, bass guitar, and composing.

She read for Bachelor of Physics at King’s College London from which she graduated at nineteen, alongside a university diploma in Philosophy, Theology and Ethics (AKC). It is during this period of studying Astrophysics and Quantum Mechanics in London that Jemily wrote the songs from her first album “Otters Mate For life”.

In 2016 she was a semi-finalist of the International Songwriting Competiton with the song Priceless, and at the end of 2018, the associated album is published, reflecting her eclectic musical influences in songs mixing pop, rock, soul, funk and jazz.

She wrote, performed and produced all the songs from her latest record, Butterfly Minute (2022), a collection of short auditory "paintings" depicting singular feelings, moments, or even illustrating a piece of art.

Since November 2020, she has been pursuing a research PhD in Music at the University of York, in partnership with XR stories and the BBC. She is looking at ways to make audio production more immersive and content more interactive using AI-driven tools.
